Caledon East Audio/Video is “Picture
Perfect” on Cup Day!
The
Caledon East Audio/Video U14 girls’ soccer team (coach Alex
Best,
asst. coach Mary Briscoe) were this year’s recipients of
the
Christina Cardwell Memorial Trophy, winning all 3 games on Cup
Day.
In
their first match, they took on the season leaders, Pleasant View
Tree
Plantation (coach Darcy Corcoran, asst. coach David DeRooy), and
the
intensity was evident from the opening kick-off. Stephanie Rowland
opened
the scoring for Caledon East Audio/Video on a perfect pass from
Jessica
Daubney. Pleasant View Tree Plantation quickly replied to tie
the score,
but Caledon East Audio/Video took control in the second half for
a 3-1 victory.
This
triumph clearly gave the young ladies from Caledon East Audio/Video
the confidence and momentum they needed. They slipped past a very
tough Emergency Responder team (coach Bryan Justice) 3-2 in their
second match.
In the final game against NVP Software (coach Russell Imrie, asst.
coach Pat Martino), they prevailed with a 3-1 victory.
A
relentless offensive attack was led by Paulina Best, who netted
8 of the 9
goals scored by Caledon East Audio/Video. Tremendous efforts from
Carla
Briscoe, Nicole Newediuk and the rest of the mid-fielders, combined
with the
iron clad defense of Samantha Morris, Jamie Fawcett, Katie Armstrong
and
goal keeper Gabi Best helped propel Caledon East Audio/Video
to the championship title.
Congratulations
to all of the girls from Caledon East Audio/Video on a
fantastic season. Congratulations as well to the teams of Cavalier
Transportation (coach Greg Scott) and Automotive Maintenance
(coach Mark Marple) for their spirited play all season long and
on Cup Day.
